Boudoir Questions: Top 12 Most Frequently Asked Questions about Boudoir Photography

Here is a list of my 12 most frequently asked questions about regarding your boudoir session with me!

I get asked all kinds of boudoir questions.

So I made a list of my 12 most frequently asked questions to give you some insight on preparing for a session with me!

1. Do you share my images?

We get this boudoir question almost every day! Our number one priority is making sure our clients are comfortable. We respect your privacy no matter what. There are different options for our model releases such as Full, No, and Anonymous. IF you would like images to be shared, YOU select them. at your Viewing & Ordering Appointment. Easy!

2. Do I have to wear lingerie?

You definitely don’t have to wear lingerie if you’re not comfortable doing so. Some clients like more glam-style outfits, oversized sweaters, or present more masc. We tailor the entire experience to you.

3. Can I bring someone with me?

You’re more than welcome to bring someone with you for the hair and makeup portion of the day! After that point though, I’ll ask them to step out for a long coffee or early lunch because there have been too many times where the other person became a distraction and actually had the opposite effect and made the client more nervous because they felt like they had to perform.

4. Do you have payment plans?

This is by far our most popular boudoir question! We do what’s called a Pre-Session Payment Plan where a purchase of at least our smallest Collection is paid for leading up to your session so that when you arrive the day of your session, you’re focused on having fun instead of being concerned with finances!

5. Is hair and makeup included?

Hair and makeup is included as a part of our Studio Fee for every single session! I think it’s very important for you to feel pampered and having your hair and makeup done is a great way to do that. It also ensures the best possible result for translating on camera.

6. What type of print products do you have?

We offer a variety of luxury products like our Couture Albums and Metal Prints. One of the things we hear most when we collect client feedback is how different and special it is to have your images created in tangible products. They can easily be put on display or tucked away depending on your preference. We shoot in a wide range of styles so you’ll get your spicy photos, but also safe shots for the wall! Another boudoir question is whether or not we offer digital-only packages and we do!

7. Should I arrive to my session early?

We have metered street parking available, so I highly recommend not arriving more than 10 minutes early so that you’re not feeding the meter! If you’re like me and have anxiety when driving to new places, it might be worth arriving early to see the studio location and then going for a quick coffee!

8. Where is your studio located?

We are located in downtown Hagerstown, Maryland and have hosted clients from all over the east coast! There is so much history in the architecture of our building and we love to have that shine through in the photographs. A boudoir question we often get is whether or not we shoot outside. On the right of the building by the front door, there’s a small section that’s hidden from the public where we can get architectural shots!

9. Can I drink alcohol before my session?

Most clients come to us nervous, but I always encourage them to NOT drink before their session. This experience is all about facing our fears head-on and frankly, the alcohol won’t be a good look. Eyes get hazy, skin gets read and blotchy and it’s much harder to follow directions-all things that will give you the exact results you’re afraid of. We got you, promise!

10. How should I…you know…groom?

We get this boudoir question all the time and the answer is simple. Do whatever you normally do and it’ll be fine. What I DON’T recommend is trying something outside your normal routine for the first time that week like waxing if you haven’t before. It can irritate your skin and create bumps that might hurt during your session. Also, for those that don’t shave or wax, body hair is COMPLETELY normal and nothing to hide. Rock whatever you’ve got!

11. What should I bring with me?

It’s always a good idea to bring a matching bra and panty set. While I know you’ll find pieces in the Client Closet you’ll love, it’ll help you feel better having a sure thing beforehand. I also highly suggest bringing water because this can be a physical experience and no one wants a scratchy throat. That’s it!

12. How long does it take for my product order to come in?

We get a lot of boudoir questions about the printing process! We partner with some of the best labs in the WORLD (one of them is in Canada) so while the digital files are usually ready to view a week after your session, your physical products could take up to 6-8 weeks to come in considering international shipping times. I always suggest scheduling your session at LEAST 8-10 weeks before the date you need them if it’s for something specific like a wedding or anniversary gift.
