At our Maryland boudoir studio, we’ve had the honor of capturing stunning images for incredible women over 40, and their stories are heartwarming, inspirational, and uplifting.

If you’re considering a session but aren’t quite sure where to start, don’t worry—we’ve got you covered. Every client comes to us for different reasons, but there are a few universal tips that can help you prepare for your boudoir shoot:

1. Choose Outfits That Help You Feel Amazing

This isn’t about picking the most daring lingerie possible. Instead, focus on what makes you feel confident and comfortable. Some of our clients love classic lace sets, while others prefer bodysuits, robes, or even an oversized shirt. You don’t need to wear anything outside your comfort zone to look stunning. Many women bring multiple options so we can create a variety of looks.

2. Set the Right Mindset

3. Trust the Process

We understand that showing up to a boudoir session might feel vulnerable, especially if you’re not used to being in front of the camera. That’s why we’ll walk you through every step. From complimentary phone consults to expert posing guidance during your shoot, we’ll make sure you feel at ease. There’s no need to “know what you’re doing”—we’ll handle the technical details so you can simply enjoy the experience. This client flew all the way from Colorado just to work with us! She heard about how “bossy” we are when it comes to our posing and wanted our expertise.

4. Don’t Sweat the Small Stuff

Sometimes clients feel self-conscious about specific features—whether it’s laugh lines, stretch marks, or other “flaws.” But trust us, those details are part of the beauty of who you are. The camera doesn’t capture flaws; it captures personality, emotion, and strength. With professional lighting and flattering angles, we’ll make sure every photo showcases the best version of you. If the images end up showing some things you don’t love, retouching can take care of it easily!

Usually, the hardest part is driving to us the day of because of morning traffic (we recommend leaving extra early!)
